Description
A unique opportunity has become available for a Unit Manager to lead our Neuro and Cardio-thoracic unit. We require a dynamic and flexible individual to manage the unit and who will assume responsibility for continually developing the service through evidence based practice .Your role will be to provide and develop strong leadership for all aspects of clinical nursing, by initiating optimal unit standards and managing business objectives. The successful candidate will report to the Nursing Manager – General Units.
Critical Outputs
Manage the Unit to meet the requirements of quality patient care, ensuring that all nursing care activities carried out comply with SANC regulations, relevant legislation and Life Healthcare policies and procedures
Manage nursing staff to ensure adequate and cost effective staffing, promoting operative working relationships, performance management and quality output.
Manage the unit’s budget, including control and maintenance of equipment, pharmacy stock, under/over recovery, stock holding, gross profit margins and debtors days.
Co-ordinate the unit’s activities with all other departments to ensure optimal utilisation effectively managing the ward resource management system.
Maintain hygiene & safety standards in the unit ensuring adherence to policies & procedures
Participating in change management and development projects that affect the hospital.
Requirements
Degree/Diploma in Nursing with approximately 3 years post basic and proven leadership and/or people management experience within healthcare (including clinical competence in area of specialisation)
Current registration with South African Nursing Council
Basic understanding of labour legislation, financial and change management principles
Computer proficiency (MS office)
