We are looking for an aspiring, young Sous chef, to join us in the kitchen at The Vine Bistro, Glenelly Wine Estate, Idas Valley, Stellenbosch.
You will need to take charge of the kitchen, to a high standard, in the Chefs absence.
Ensuring you and your brigade are working to the highest culinary standards.
Managing food purchasing and storage.
Maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen.
Ensure that the business is making a profit.
Maintaining a professional appearance at all times.
To succeed, our Sous Chef should lead by example, keeping sections clean, preparing foods properly, and cooperating with others. You should be able to make decisions that get the best out of every situation. You should have respect for those above you, and value the chefs decisions at all times. That being said, as the Sous Chef, you should not be afraid to offer suggestions or creative ideas that can improve upon the kitchen’s performance or are in the best interest of the business.
