One-Year Contract


Posts (full-time and part-time basis) have become available for Senior Scientists at Cochrane South Africa (SA). Cochrane SA is part of the global, independent Cochrane network of researchers, professionals, patients, carers and people interested in health. Cochrane is a non-profit organisation that prepares and disseminates information (in the form of reviews) on what works and what doesn’t in health care. These reviews enable policy makers, health service providers and the public to make informed decisions about health care.


We are seeking enthusiastic and skilled clinical researchers to join the team and contribute to conduct, dissemination and methodological research for systematic reviews and clinical guidelines. The job holder should have post-graduate training and experience in public health with clinical epidemiology with a strong foundation in systematic reviews or related work in knowledge translation and clinical guidelines. The post holder must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to work with multi-disciplinary teams from research and policymaking environments nationally and internationally.


Core Requirements:


Masters degree in clinical epidemiology or public health, and

Undergraduate training in a clinical health sciences field (e.g. pharmacy, nursing or medicine etc.) with registration with the relevant association.

Qualifications must be supported by at least two years practical experience with conducting research and publication; project management; networking and collaboration; presenting research findings and reports; publishing scientific articles in relevant national/international peer-reviewed journals; training and developing capacity.

Preferred experience is competency in conducting and writing up systematic reviews and training and experience with knowledge translation, particularly clinical guidelines
