Applications are invited from qualified and experienced candidates for the above-mentioned permanent position in the Financial Planning and Budgeting Department;
Primary purpose of the position: Assist with implementation of an effective and efficient budget process. Monitoring and analysis of departmental expenditure. Training and providing support to the budget holders and processing of virements on the ITS system.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Finance/Accounting
- At least 3 years’ experience in Finance preferably budgeting
- 2 years relevant experience in the Higher Education sector
- Experience in University ITS system or related systems

- Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Effective verbal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work under pressure
- Trend analysis
- Ability to prepare and analyze reports
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to meet deadlines and to work as a team member
- Valid drivers’ license
- Problem solving and conflict resolution
- Decision making and ability to maintain confidentiality
Key Performance areas:
- Participate in formulation of revenue, compensation and operational budget
- Participate in the reviewing of the budget guideline documents
- Conduct budget training workshops
- Consolidation of budget requests
- Accurate loading of budget on ITS
- Monitor expenditure against budget and attend to variances timeously
- Preparation and analysis of monthly budget vs expenditure reports for different stakeholders
- Processing of virements as and when necessary
- Attend to internal and external auditors
- Dealing with budget related queries
- Representing the Budget office in relevant committees
