Description

 

A vacancy exists for a Retail Pharmacist Assistant based at Life Eugene Marais Hospital, reporting to Emmie van Bemmel, Pharmacist Senior. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the quality pharmaceutical services, financial objectives, legislative compliance and people management requirements are achieved to the required standards.

 

Critical Outputs

Effective medication safety management

Report 100% of pharmacy alerts and incidents including applying remedial action

Effective quality management systems

Processing of prescriptions and credits as per legal requirements

Perform duties as per scope of practice including dispensing under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist as prescribed by the SA Pharmacy Council

Issuing of ward stock to wards and Theatre according to customer service levels

Adhere to the SAPC, DOH and LHC legal and professional standards

Implement customer satisfaction and pharmacy quality initiative

Effective asset management

Assist with daily retail cash up and month end procedure

Performing daily cycle counts and quarterly stock takes with variance investigation

Dead stock management and soon to expire stock management

Assist with other admin functions on a daily basis

Ordering of ethical stock and retail stock

Participating in achieving stock targets

Achieve optimal systems utilization

Effective working people management

Build effective working relationships with nurses, doctors and customers

Maintaining high ethical and professional standards.

Supplying of medication to the wards and theatre on requisitions and assist with management of all pharmaceuticals within the hospital under supervision of a pharmacist

 

Requirements

 

Grade 12 National Senior Certificate

Qualification as a Post Basic Pharmacist assistant and registration with the Pharmacy Council

Relevant clinical knowledge and experience to the critical outputs

Understanding of pharmacy and related healthcare industry, legislation, regulation and challenges

Knowledge of pharmaceutical legislation

Pharmaceutical product knowledge

Computer proficiency (MS office)

Competent in using Unisolve (CKS)

Knowledge of SAP advantageous
