A vacancy exists for a Pharmacist Assistant (Qualified Post Basic) based at Life Bedford Gardens Hospital, reporting to Sanrika Naidoo, Pharmacy Manager.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the quality pharmaceutical services, legal compliances and financial objectives are achieved to the required standards. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated, enthusiastic and work well in a team.
Dispensing and compounding under pharmacist supervision.
Replenishment of Emergency Cupboard stock.
Receiving, checking and unpacking stock, together with checking orders against invoices.
Acquisition, control and distribution of stock to internal units.
Ordering pharmaceutical stock, processing of stock credits and stock transfers.
Receipting of invoices.
Performing cycle counts and stock counts, including capturing of stock counts and investigating variances.
Management of dead stock and short dated stock.
Printing, checking and investigating of the negative stock report and purchase comparison regularly to mitigate errors before month end.
Assist with other admin functions on a daily basis.
Assist with Retail Pharmacy dispensing.
Crediting of medication and stock on the prescription cards.
File releasing on a daily basis of visits that are discharge, but not final bill.
Liaise with nursing personnel regarding formulary changes and other initiatives.
Pharmacist Assistant Qualified Post Basic registered with the SAPC.
Experience in a hospital and retail pharmacy, minimum of 2 years.
Computer literacy is essential.
Extensive knowledge of Impilo dispensing and Imeds Stock control systems.
Excellent interpersonal skills are very important as well as good relationships with doctors and hospital staff.
Work scheduled weekends, public holidays and after hours.
