Description

 

A vacancy exists for a Pharmacist (Permanent on Demand-POD) based at Life Hilton Private Hospital, reporting to the Pharmacy Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the quality of pharmaceutical services, financial objectives, legislative compliance and people management requirements are achieved to the required standards.

 

The successful candidate will only be working as per operational requirements and hours worked will vary from month to month.

 

Critical Outputs

Effective medication risk management

 

Report 100% of medication incidents, and develop and implement remedial actions as appropriate.

Report 100% of pharmacy alerts and implement remedial action

Review pharmacy medication process, identify improvement opportunities and implement actions as well as best operating practice related to medication risk management when required

Develop an implementation plan for published pharmacy procedures, identify compliance gaps and implement corrective actions from QMS reviews, when required

Effective Quality Management Systems & customer satisfaction management

 

Manage the agreed ethical product issuing and replenishment process to achieve customer service levels to wards and theatre

Participate in the implementation and compliance to LHC Quality management systems.

Ensure compliance with SAPC, DOH and LHC legal and professional standards

Participate in achieving required customer service levels in theatre and wards

Implement customer satisfaction and pharmacy quality initiatives

Participate (Involvement) in Clinical Pharmacy / ward pharmacy as required

Effective financial management

 

Participate in achieving hospital budgeted financial measures relating to pharmacy

Effective people management

 

Participate in Pharmacist Intern and Pharmacist Assistant programs as appropriate.

Effective asset management

 

Participate in achieving stock targets

Inform doctors, theatres and wards of alternative products available in supplier out of stock situations

Participate in dead stock reduction according to targets

Participate in cycle counts and stock takes, and ensure they are in line with governance, investigate variances and implement corrective actions where necessary

Achieve optimal system utilization

Effective product management

 

Participate in the active management of cost of sales of pharmaceuticals in line with revenue and budget

Ensure stock is ordered from preferred suppliers according to LHC procurement agreements

Build effective working relationships with doctors and hospital staff

 

Requirements

 

Pharm/B.Sc and Current registration with South African Pharmacy Council

Relevant clinical knowledge and experience to the critical outputs

Understanding of pharmacy and related healthcare industry, legislation, regulation and challenges

Pharmaceutical product knowledge as well as knowledge of pharmaceutical legislation

Computer proficiency (MS office)

Work flexi hours accordingly to operational demand when required

The successful candidate will be required to perform standby duty, and to be available for weekend, public holiday and after hour duties.
