OFFICER: OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR

 

Duration: Permanent

 

The South African Medical Research Council’s Biomedical Research Innovation Platform requires a suitably qualified and experienced Office Administrator to provide administration support for procurement, minute keeping, filing of legal documents, asset control and other office administration functions within the Platform. The incumbent will also be responsible for to ensure that laboratory infrastructure is supported, gases are ordered and delivered timeously, equipment is maintained, and laboratory waste is removed as needed.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Office administration, including planning and coordinating all administrative logistics and operational aspects of the office.

Procurement and supply chain, including S&T and advance claims, travel arrangements, procurement of good and services, liaising with SCM and following up on orders, arranging couriers for laboratory sample shipments and tracking assets.

Financial activities, including processing invoices and assist with contract administration and record keeping.

Research support, including assisting laboratories in arranging for equipment to be serviced according to the BRIP maintenance plan, ensure laboratory gases are ordered and delivered, and arrange waste collection and removal.

Any other office administrator related activities, office diary management and minute taking.

Core Requirements:

 

Grade 12/ Matric plus post Matric relevant course.

2-3 years’ experience with Office Administration.

1-2 years’ experience involved in, working with budgets, project coordination and coordinating travel.

Experience with supply chain management and software packages used.

Computer Skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power point, Outlook and Teams)

Office practices, including minute taking, agendas and meeting arrangements.

Advantageous:

 

Experience working within a research institution performing administrative related tasks
