The Department invites applications from those with research and teaching interests relating to

Accountancy related studies.

Key Performance Areas include but not limited to:

 Contribute to teaching and learning in the field of Financial Accounting as delegated by the

Head of Department;

 Assessment and moderation – summative/formative assessments including moderation in

order to ensure adherence to standard and quality;

 Provide academic support to learners

 Develop relevant learning material according to the university’s and SAQA guidelines;

 Undertake research in Accountancy related fields

 Participate in national and/or international conferences and publish research findings in

accredited journals;

 Participate in community service projects;

 Liaise with industry and other stakeholders;

 Display sound inter-personal and team-work skills;

 Engage in continuous personal and professional development

The candidate will be required to attend and successfully complete regular courses on

research and teaching development as part of the nGAP Development Programme


Qualification and Experience:

 An appropriate Master’s degree in an Accountancy related field with 70% average

 Possess a sound knowledge in the theory and application of the field of specialisation

 Teaching/lecturing experience or related industry experience will be an advantage;

 A teaching qualification will be an advantage

 Membership of relevant professional bodies will be an advantage;

 Willingness to register for a doctoral program in Accountancy and be able to complete it

within six years

 A passion for learning

 Previous lecturing experience in an academic environment is an added advantage

 Applicants must be South African citizens who are less than 40 years of age

 Problem solving skills

 Computer literacy

 Have the initiative and the motivation to work without extensive supervision.
