JOB DESCRIPTION:
Key Performance Areas include but not limited to:
The candidate appointed in this position will play a leading role in the academic and
didactic development of the Department: Legal Sciences. The candidates will be
responsible for:
Teaching and coordinating subjects as delegated by the head of department.
Re-curriculating subjects according to the SAQA guidelines.
Providing academic support to learners and dealing with related teaching management
tasks.
Engaging in and stimulating departmental research projects.
Participating in national and/or international conferences and publishing research
findings in accredited journals.
Managing community service projects.
Initiating student workshops and short courses.
Participating in subject advisory committee meetings.
Liaising with industry and other stakeholders to improve the quality and standard of
services delivered and keeping abreast of developments in the legal field.
Managing personal, departmental / academic administration.
Compiling and offering relevant short courses.
Coordinating and assessing work integrated learning.
Attending various departmental and faculty meetings; and
Develop new Law qualifications.
The candidates should be prepared to work after hours if necessary. Applicants are

may be required to give a practical demonstration of specific skills required for the
position.
APPLICATION CRITERIA:
Qualification and Experience:
LLM
Three (3) years teaching and lecturing experience, or industry or practice experience
Admittance as an attorney or advocate will be an added advantage
Relevant research experience will be an added advantage
A recognised teaching qualification will be an added advantage
Skills and Competencies:
Excellent English communication and presentation skills, excellent teaching skills,
planning and organising skills, conceptual skills, analytical ability, interpersonal skills
and problem solving skills.
