They are recruiting a Partner to join their team of four partners, to build a world class venture capital firm. The investment team’s primary goal is to find, invest and support the growth of the best early-stage companies in South Africa. In this role, as a senior and experienced investment professional who has worked in early-stage venture capital, private equity, or investment banking space, you will be responsible for further building and managing the fund’s back office admin and compliance processes, structure and manage the investment diligence and decision processes, and manage a growing internal investment team of Principals, Associates and Analysts.
Strong academic performance in Undergraduate and Post-graduate degrees.
Master’s Degree in Finance or STEM subjects preferred.
Skills, characteristics, and experience:
10-15 years of venture capital, private equity, corporate finance, or investment banking work experience, with at least 5 years of that experience at a senior management level
Demonstrated experience in fund administration and compliance activities in South Africa, as regulated by the FSCA, including being a “Key Individual” in terms of the FSCA.
Proven experience from sourcing to exiting investments, including deal analysis, due diligence, reviewing and negotiating all documentation, serving as deal interface, and driving deal processes to completion.
Highly organized, with a demonstrated ability to have extremely high attention to detail.
Intensely curious with both an insatiable hunger to learn about new technologies and business models and the ability to rapidly learn about a new industry or sector.
Strong analytical skills to understand both quantitative data and qualitative evidence to evaluate investment opportunities.
Experience investing in early-stage venture capital in emerging markets preferred.
Salary and employment benefits:
Remuneration will be commensurate with background and experience with participation in carry and equity in the Fund Manager that will vest over the long term, in line with the rest of the Partners.
