Description

 

A vacancy exists at Life Health Solution - Head Office reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial reporting processes and compliance with relevant laws and regulations, accepted best practices and internal controls of the business unit in line with accounting standards, and within corporate governance protocols in support of Life Healthcare objectives and strategy.

 

Critical Outputs

Effective people management

 

Demonstrate visible leadership in respect of Life values, operating model and strategy.

Actively sponsor Life initiatives and projects as it relates to the business.

Actively participate in MANCO/Head Office meetings

Actively lead and manage F&A and HOD feedback meetings and ensure participation from all parties to achieve strategic objectives

Recruit, retain, motivate and develop staff according to Life people policies and practices.

Financial management

 

Provide management and guidance for the LHS accounting function and assist in developing proper supporting systems and procedures

Improve financial reporting systems, processes, and policies – specifically better management reporting, information flow and management, business process and organisational planning

Accurate financial reporting & analysis

 

Lead the accurate and timeous production of monthly and quarterly assessments, and forecasts of financial performance against budget & cash flow, financial and operational goals

Review monthly balance sheet reconciliation files and timeously follow up on/resolve unreconciled items

Manage general ledger close off adjustments and manage people and processes to adhere to reporting deadlines Analyse variances to budget and as compared to prior year comparatives, report on Regional and

Head Office performance, identify problem areas and take remedial action with staff and Enabling functions as required

Responsible for accounting policy, financial accounting governance processes and cash flow (working capital) management

Effective budgeting

 

Lead annual budgeting processes for the annual budget with the CEO, which includes the following

Participating in LOH strategic planning to identify Capex projects, develop financial model for proposed Capex plan with regional management and enabling functions and assist CEO in developing motivations for Capex projects

Developing the operating budget, ensuring final budget presented matches approved parameters, ensuring sign-off of budget by management and communicate approved budget to all regions

Ensuring final working capital budget presented reflects the requirements of the operating budget, ensuring sign off by management and communicating the approved budget to all regions

Effective management of internal controls

 

Lead internal control compliance processes, including follow up of audit findings and implementation of remediation controls and processes

Assist with corrective operational actions to ensure successful implementation of systems and processes

Manage the various risk management processes within the business at a strategic level including interaction with operational management to ensure risk management processes achieve their intended outputs

Monitor and report to business stakeholders on the management of internal controls over financial reporting

Prepare cyclical internal control review checklists and manage the internal control environment within the business unit.

Manage control self-assessments (including peer reviews)

Effective governance and risk management

 

Manage compliance with the executive constraints per corporate governance, report deviations and take action where necessary.

Manage compliance with all LHC governance processes, including but not limited to, the submissions of capex requisitions, sign-off of bad debt write-offs and analysis and comment on stock take results

Effective quality management and customer relations

 

Achieve and improve quality metrics, continuously monitor and measure processes to maintain and approve same and actively lead and promote LHC quality drive

Manage data integrity and compliance to LHC protocols

Develop and maintain relationships with various internal and external stakeholders, conduct feedback surveys in order to monitor relationships and service levels, identify trends and implement remedial actions

 

Requirements

 

B: Com degree, with completed articles and 2-3 years’ experience (preferably commercial management in a corporate services environment). Qualification as a CA (SA), accounting and supervisory experience in the healthcare industry would be advantageous.

Previous business and risk management experience

Ability to learn industry specifics i.e. related healthcare terminology.
