The main purpose of this position is to provide expert assistance to users of the PeopleSoft Student System within
the University’s academic administration. This includes identifying areas for development and testing new and
upgraded functionality. The job also includes responsibility related to maintaining the integrity of the University’s
Higher Education Management Information System submission. Further responsibilities include arranging graduation
ceremonies, coordinating and developing handbook production, overseeing short course administration and
contributing to the smooth running of the Student Records Office (SRO) through staff and operational management.
Candidates must be able and willing to work beyond the normal working hours during certain periods if the need
arises.
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification at NQF level 7 and five years of relevant academic administration experience at a Higher
Education institution
- Proven staff management experience
- A high level of computer literacy and proficiency in PeopleSoft (in the areas of academic administration)
- Experience in the organisation, planning and coordination of complex, multi-faceted processes such as
graduation, readmission appeals and handbooks
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with multiple
stakeholders internal and external to the University
- The ability to work independently and to lead a team
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to pay attention to detail, work accurately under pressure
and to tight deadlines while managing competing demands
- Experience in budget management and administration
- Honesty to handle finances
Advantage:
- Experience in Content Management System (CMS)
Responsibilities:
- PeopleSoft testing of new developments and related documentation
- Manage graduation ceremonies as assigned
- Contribute to the maintenance of the integrity of the University HEMIS database
- Coordinate short course administration across the University
- Coordination and development of handbooks production
- Manage and oversee the staff and operations of the Student Records Office
- Produce annual Student Records Office budget requirements
- Coordinating the annual Readmission Appeals Committee processing
The 2022 annual cost of employment, including benefits, is negotiable between R547 299 – R643 880
