Data Engineer, reporting to the Data Development Manager. The successful candidate will play a key role in creating, developing, and managing data pipelines that turn raw data into assets that can be used to extract insights and have an innovation and improvement mindset.
Ensure that Life Healthcare can drive business value through analytics by laying the data foundation securely.
Transform the existing infrastructure (a data warehouse and multiple stored procedures leading to multiple data sources) to an integrated, aligned and reusable single source of truth.
Future-proof data sources in a way that is closely aligned to the business's evolving reporting and analytics needs.
Build, maintain, and test data architecture that best serves the organisation's needs and regularly reviews architecture and technology stack.
Understand business and analytics requirements to build efficient and effective data pipelines that optimise data retrieval.
Build pipelines and other data assets that can scale and maximise efficiency.
Identify opportunities to improve data quality, reliability and efficiency and automate data processes and flow.
Ensure compliance with data governance standards.
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics or a related field, or equivalent qualification.
5+ 'years' experience in a data engineering or similar role, including exposure to modernisation of SQL Server and Data Warehouses and SSIS, SSAS and SSRS development
Experience in architecting solutions in the Cloud (Microsoft Azure would be an advantage)
Fundamental knowledge of computer hardware and software
Experience in working with complex data environments and ETL processes
Solid knowledge of data security requirements and protocols
Ability to engage with stakeholders in business and the analytics team to clearly understand requirements and be able to communicate opportunities and constraints in an accessible and non-technical way
Advanced SQL and TSQL expertise
Other specific software or environment exposure (Hadoop/Scala/Spark) would be an advantage
Good communication skills.
Understanding data architecture and pipelines and engaging effectively with the team responsible for ensuring that data delivery meets analytical needs.
Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret complex problems or processes that span multiple business areas, identify and understand requirements, and develop alternate solutions.
Ability to work to deadlines.
Healthcare experience will be a strong advantage.
