A vacancy exists for a Change Specialist based at Head Office, reporting to the Organisational Change Lead SA. The incumbent will focus on the people side of change, including changes to business processes, systems and technology, job roles and organization structures. The primary responsibility will be creating and implementing change management strategies and plans that maximize employee adoption and usage and minimize resistance. Continuous monitoring of the people adoption is key and they will be required to conduct surveys before, during and post the change. Driving faster adoption, higher ultimate utilization of and proficiency with the changes that impact employees is important. The incumbent will play a critical role in designing relevant communication and training material to support the people adoption. There will be a requirement to be a problem solver who understands business strategy and is able to align and develop change people interventions and solutions. The incumbent should demonstrate good influencing and networking skills and be highly skilled at communication (written and verbal). The incumbent will be part of an environment that is fast paced, innovative, agile, exciting and intellectually stimulating.


Critical Outputs

Key areas of responsibility:


Builds relationships with initiative leads, sponsors, stakeholders and project team members to gain deep understanding of the goal of the initiative, how it needs to be structured to succeed, and what success ultimately looks like.

Implement planned, systemic change solutions that support a change in the beliefs, attitudes and values of employees for individual and organisational growth.

Collaborates with internal and external Communication and Marketing stakeholders to build creative, exciting and sustainable communication and change adoption strategies.

Supervises the planning and work output of a team of change agents to deliver sustainable change solutions.

Navigate the complexity and uncertainty inherent in people change adoption to enable successful transformation projects.

Responsibilities include:

Apply a structured change management methodology and lead change management activities across multiple projects.

Apply a change management process and tools to create a change strategy to support adoption of the changes required.

Develop and submit change management feedback reports / presentations.

Design and develop change management plans, flight plans, and presentations.

Monitor and track delivery / progress, and realign plans as required.

Design, develop, deliver and manage communications across all projects.

Collaborate internally with Group Communications and Group Marketing teams, and externally with vendors to drive exciting and interesting change communication and other change initiatives.

Identify, analyze and prepare risk mitigation tactics.

Identify and manage anticipated resistance.

Consult and coach project teams.

Create actionable deliverables for the five change management levers: communications plan, sponsor roadmap, coaching plan, training plan, resistance management plan

Coach Managers and supervisors.

Integrate change management activities into project plan.

Conduct impact analyses, assess change readiness and identify and design key stakeholders maps.

Conduct surveys, including training, pulse checks, and post go live adoption surveys.

Conduct focus group sessions with impacted end-users to collaboratively build change solutions.

Support communication efforts:

Plan and coordinate all kick-off and onboarding sessions.

Assist business owners with the consolidation of onboarding presentations.

Manage and support all project operational communication to ensure all project team members are kept abreast and updated of the progress of the project.

Support training efforts:

Provide input, document requirements and support the design and delivery of training programs.

Assist with the creation of training plans.

Builds training material (including slides, guides and manuals).

Coordinates all communication and logistics of training venues, network, equipment, and diary invites.

Attend all change management and project working committees to present on people change initiatives and provide an update on change deliverables.

Continuously aligns people adoption solutions to the project plan, to enable delivery on time and within budget with least people risk outcomes.

Align with initiative owner on clearly defined success metrics, including milestone goals and timing while ensuring the initiative remains on track and adoption metrics post go-live.

Proactively flag people issues, risks or barriers to success, and work with the initiative team leader/s to create relevant action plans (solutions and mitigations).

Escalating issues that cannot be solved directly to the initiative team and Organisational Change Lead.

Provide input to the change budgets for the overall project CEP and monitor costs against budget.

Generates demand for Excellence for Life TO office support through effective partnership with key organizational stakeholders

Generates demand for improvement initiatives through identification of opportunities through global trends, observations, research and deep dive analysis and business case development.




Qualification aligned to Organisational Change, Organisational Development, Psychology and/or Human Resources or an equivalent NQF level 7 is essential.

5-7 years’ experience leading people change across large scale transformation projects in a large organisation.

Previous healthcare experience is preferable, or working within a large organisation that manages complex change.

Change Management accreditation is preferable.

Computer proficiency at an advanced level.
