Description

The Allergy and Immunology Unit (AIU), based at the University of Cape Town Lung Institute, requires applications for an ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT* on a Fixed Term Contract.

The Allergy and Immunology Unit was established in 2000 to provide state of the art clinical and laboratory services for the diagnosis and management of allergic and immune-based diseased, with a mission to transform lives of patients through innovate science and compassionate care.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Senior Certificate or Equivalent)
  • 2-3 years administrative experience
  • Advanced computer skills (proficient in MS Office, especially MS Excel, web applications and medical databases)
  • Experience with electronic data systems
  • Administrative experience in clinical trial / research environment (advantageous)
  • Tertiary qualification (advantageous)
  • Valid GCP (Good Clinical Practice) Certificate(advantageous)
  • Fluency in English and a second language (Afrikaans and / or isiXhosa)
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills
  • Detail-orientated, with strong organizational skills
  • Proactive and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Analytical and effective problem-solving skills
  • Valid Driver’s License (advantageous)

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Typing documentation, photocopying, scanning, and other admin related duties
  • Responsible for day-to-day collection of data capturing and activities
  • Assist in extracting and reviewing data reports from data systems Collect, sort, distribute and prepare correspondence,

mail, messages and courier deliveries

  • Maintaining an orderly filing system of all essential documents in the relevant study files and electronic filing system
  • Archiving of documents
  • Assist with electronic diary management, scheduling meetings and doing minute-taking
  • Provide general administration support to site staff
  • Cover receptionist desk when required
  • Assist with ordering office supplies and doing inventory checking
  • Coordinate repairs to office equipment

Additional Information:

  • 4-month Fixed Term Contract
  • Working hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
